India’s Defence Production: India’s defence world is now entering a fresh stage of big growth. The country is making more weapons than before, selling more products to other nations, and building stronger roads and bridges near the borders. The latest update came during an event where the Defence Minister, Rajnath Singh, spoke about how far India has come.

Jump in India’s Defence Production

Rajnath Singh talked about how much India has grown in the last ten years. He explained that India once depended a lot on other countries for defence needs, but things have changed in a big way. He said India now builds much more on its own and also sells to many other nations.

He stated this clearly when he said India’s production went from “₹46,000 crore in 2014 to a record ₹1.51 lakh crore”. He also added that exports grew from “under ₹1,000 crore to nearly ₹24,000 crore.” These numbers show that India is moving fast toward self-reliance.

He shared these points while opening 125 BRO infrastructure projects across Ladakh, Jammu & Kashmir, and seven more states. These new works include 28 roads, 93 bridges, and four other projects, all together costing ₹5,000 crore.

BRO Builds Roads and Bridges

Rajnath Singh also praised the Border Roads Organisation for the tough work they handle in some of the hardest places in the country. He said the BRO is improving quickly and building smart new designs that help soldiers and locals travel safely. One important step he mentioned was the use of Class-70 modular bridges, which were made with the help of Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers. These bridges help the army move heavy vehicles faster and safer.

The minister also spoke about how big the BRO’s work has become. He shared that the organisation reached a record ₹16,690 crore spending level in FY 2024-25, and it now aims for ₹18,700 crore in FY 2025-26.
