India-UK defence roadmap: India and the United Kingdom shared big news on Wednesday about their plan to work together on defence for the next ten years. They called it a 10-year defence industrial roadmap, and this plan is a big step in making their ties stronger, not just in defence but also in keeping both countries more safe and secure. This roadmap is a part of the bigger Vision 2035 partnership.
The British High Commission posted about the plan on social media platform X. The goal of this new roadmap is to build more trust, work closely in creating defence technologies, and focus on research, new ideas, and strong supply chains. The two countries want to work together on making complex weapons, engines for jets and warships, and also want to help each other stay safer in the future.

Both countries have agreed to join hands on many things that matter a lot for defence.
- Advanced technology: One big area is advanced technology. They said they will work more on projects like the Electric Propulsion Capability Partnership (EPCP) and Jet Engine Advanced Core Technologies (JEACT). These programmes are very important because they will help both countries learn more and build better and smarter weapons and systems together.
- Maritmie Security: Another big part of the plan is about sea security. India and the UK said they will start a Regional Maritime Security Centre of Excellence. This centre will be a part of the Indo-Pacific Oceansā Initiative. It will help other countries in the Indian Ocean area by building skills and helping them deal with dangers that donāt involve regular wars, like piracy, smuggling, and other sea threats. This will make the region more peaceful and safe.
- Joint military exercises: They also plan to do more joint military exercises, not just on land but in the air and sea too. Military trainers from both sides will also be sent to each otherās defence schools. The UK said it will keep treating India as a place where it can store or move its army supplies when needed, which shows how much trust there is between the two countries, reported TOI.

Joint Innovations
The roadmap also talks about doing joint research and making new defence tools together. They will work on new underwater systems and something called directed energy weapons. These are special weapons that use energy instead of regular bullets or bombs. They will also connect more with colleges and universities so that young students and researchers can help build new defence technologies in future.
Another important point in this roadmap is cyber security. The two countries want to help each other become stronger and safer online. This means they will share ways to stop cyber-attacks and protect their systems. The roadmap also says they will work together on other things like migration and global safety rules.
