Goa Shipyard Patrol Vessel Atal: A Ship with many Capabilities

The ship ‘Atal’ has many strong features that make it ready for different types of missions at sea. It is 52 metres long and 8 metres wide and can carry 320 tonnes. Because of this size and design, it can move fast and stay steady during rough operations. It was made by the team at Goa Shipyard using their own designs, which means they didn’t depend on anyone else’s technology.

‘Atal’ can do many jobs. It can guard the coastline, protect islands, look after offshore places like oil rigs, and even stop smuggling and piracy. It is also ready to help in search and rescue operations.

According to ET Infra, at the event Rozy Agarwal, the Principal Internal Financial Advisor at the Coast Guard Headquarters, said good things about the team that built the ship. She appreciated how the Goa Shipyard team worked hard and showed strong execution skills. She also said the ship will help make India’s sea security system stronger.

Strong Step for Maritime Security

The launch of FPV ‘Atal’ is important because it adds more power to India’s coastal defence. With problems like smuggling, illegal fishing, and piracy becoming more common, having such patrol ships helps protect the country’s long coastline.

Brajesh Kumar Upadhyay, who is the Chairman and Managing Director of Goa Shipyard Limited, praised the people behind the vessel. He said, “The launch of ICGS Atal reflects the indomitable spirit of Team GSL and its unwavering commitment to indigenisation, innovation, and excellence in shipbuilding, even amidst global supply chain challenges.”
