Defence Ministry Workshop on Drones: On July 16, the Ministry of Defence will hold a very important workshop and exhibition in New Delhi. This event is all about making Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) and Counter-Unmanned Aerial Systems (C-UAS) inside the country, instead of depending on other countries for it. The workshop will happen at the Manekshaw Centre and is being organised by the Headquarters Integrated Defence Staff along with the Centre for Joint Warfare Studies.
Many top people will take part in the workshop, including defence experts, top officers from the armed forces, scientists, government officials, and also people from the private sector. The workshop will include live demos, detailed technical talks, and special panels where experts will talk about new ideas, how to build better defence systems, and how to solve problems that are stopping India from making everything at home.

India’s Chief of Defence Staff, General Anil Chauhan, will be the main guest at the workshop, which shows how serious and strategic this event is. At the end of the workshop, Air Marshal Ashutosh Dixit, who is the Chief of Integrated Defence Staff, will speak to everyone, reported DD News. He will talk about what was learned during the workshop and will also share a new policy plan.
Purpose of the Workshop
Currently many parts used in drones and anti-drone systems come from foreign companies. The government wants Indian companies and scientists to develop and produce these parts on their own, making them indigenous. This will help reduce India’s need to buy things from foreign defence companies and make the country stronger and more independent in the defence field.

This event is even more important now because of the recent military situation between India and Pakistan. In Operation Sindoor, Indian-made drones and anti-drone systems played a very big role. They helped with things like watching enemy movements, targeting very specific places, and keeping soldiers safe. These systems worked really well during the conflict, which showed everyone how useful and important it is to have strong, local technology in defence.
