Indian Navy’s New Warships: Chhattisgarh might soon see its famous rivers and regions get named in the defence sector of India. The state’s Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai met with Defence Minister Rajnath Singh in New Delhi on Monday and shared a special idea. He said that naming naval ships after these rivers and cultural regions would make every citizen of Chhattisgarh proud. “Naming naval vessels after the rivers of Chhattisgarh would be a symbolic and proud gesture — representing India’s unity in diversity while giving the state recognition on the national and global stage,” Sai said, reported TOI. The Defence Minister listened carefully to the proposal and assured that the ministry will look into it and take steps at the right time.

Airport and Defence Projects in Chhattisgarh

During a meeting CM Sai also spoke about some important development plans for Chhattisgarh. He told the Defence Minister that Bilaspur Airport needs to be expanded to improve travel and business links in central Chhattisgarh. Sai said that a large part of land in Bilaspur belongs to the Ministry of Defence, and he requested that it be handed over for the airport’s expansion. He explained that better air connectivity would help grow trade, attract industries, and create more jobs for the local people.

Sai also shared his wish to see defence-related industries set up in the state. He said such projects would help Chhattisgarh take part in the Atmanirbhar Bharat mission and grow its own defence and electronics manufacturing. He also urged the Defence Minister to hold more Army recruitment rallies across Chhattisgarh.

Sai said, “Besides, the youth of our state possess discipline, physical strength, and are enthusiastic to join Army and are eager to serve the nation. If Army recruitment rallies are organised across districts, local candidates will get the opportunity to join the defence forces from their own soil.”

Youth Recruitment

Chief Minister Sai was joined by Union Minister of State Tokhan Sahu and Principal Secretary Subodh Kumar Singh during the meeting. Officials said that Rajnath Singh welcomed the suggestions and gave assurance that the Centre wants to recruit talented and capable youth from every part of the country. He said that Army recruitment rallies will soon take place in different districts of Chhattisgarh so that young people can get more chances to serve in the defence forces.
