Indian Navy Anti-Ship Firings

Indian Navy Anti-Ship Firings: The Indian Navy said on Sunday, April 27, 2025, that its warships successfully carried out many anti-ship missile firings at sea. This action showed that the Navy is ready for long-range precision “offensive” strikes if needed. The Navy’s show of strength came at a time when tensions between India and Pakistan have become very high after a terrible terror attack in Pahalgam killed 26 innocent civilians.

India has already said it will punish those responsible for the attack. Many people across India and even other countries have shown anger and sadness over what happened.

According to The Hindu, Navy said in a short statement, “Indian Navy ships undertook successful multiple anti-ship firings to revalidate and demonstrate readiness of platforms, systems and crew for long range precision offensive strike.” The Navy also said, “Indian Navy stands combat ready, credible and future ready in safeguarding the nation’s maritime interests anytime, anywhere, anyhow.”

The Navy even shared videos of the live missile firings at sea. But they did not say exactly when the firing exercises took place. Meanwhile, Pakistan’s army continued to start unprovoked firing along the Line of Control on Saturday night, especially near the Tutmari Gali and Rampur Sectors, according to military sources. Indian troops answered back using small arms.

An Indian official said, “Our troops responded effectively with appropriate small arms fire.” Pakistan had also done the same kind of firing on Thursday and Friday nights before this.

Strict Actions Against Pakistan

The terror attack at Pahalgam has been called the worst attack on civilians in India since the big 26/11 Mumbai attacks. Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke to the nation during his ‘Mann Ki Baat’ program and made a strong promise. Modi said, “The perpetrators and conspirators of this attack will be served with the harshest response.” He also said, “The whole world stands with 140 crore Indians in our fight against terrorism. I once again assure the affected families that they will get justice, and justice will be done.”

After the attack, India announced many strong steps against Pakistan. India suspended the Indus Waters Treaty, closed the only open land border crossing at Attari, and lowered diplomatic relations with Pakistan. These actions were taken because India believes there are cross-border links to the Pahalgam killings.

Pakistan reacted by closing its airspace for Indian planes and stopping all trade with India, even trade done through other countries. Pakistan also rejected India’s move to suspend the Indus Waters Treaty and said that stopping the flow of water would be treated as an “act of war.”

Last week, the Navy’s powerful ship, INS Surat, fired a medium-range surface-to-air missile at a sea-skimming target in the Western Indian Ocean, showing once again that India’s forces are fully ready if any situation demands action.
