Poland’s Loitering Munition: Poland’s top defence technology company, WB Group, recently showed off its advanced Warmate Tube-Launched (TL) Loitering Munition System for the first time at Aero India 2025. This system is a smart weapon that can fly around an area, find its target, and attack with precision. WB Group also announced a big step forward by signing an agreement with an Indian company.
Through its Indian branch, WB Electronics India Pvt Ltd, the company plans to set up a production line in the Uttar Pradesh Defence Industrial Corridor. This move shows WB Group’s strong commitment to helping India grow its defence industry.
The demand for drone technology is increasing in military and security operations. WB India is focusing on a new technology called decentralised collaborative autonomy. This technology allows multiple drones to work together with very little human control.

Ashish Sharma, the CEO of WB Electronics India, said, “We are proud to bring new and innovative technologies to India’s defence sector. This partnership will help create advanced solutions for India’s military needs, like reconnaissance and surveillance.”
India’s security forces are investing heavily in drone technology as part of their plan to modernise. The market for unmanned systems is expected to grow a lot in the next ten years.
The Warmate TL Loitering Munition is a cost-effective and versatile weapon. It was designed to be a cheaper alternative to traditional guided missiles. The system can be used for both anti-personnel and anti-tank missions, giving commanders the flexibility to adapt to different battlefield situations.
The Warmate TL uses a canister-based launch system, which means it can be launched from land vehicles, ships, or even aircraft. Once launched, its wings open in mid-air, allowing it to fly around and search for targets.
It has daylight and infrared cameras, which help it gather real-time information and send it back to operators. The system can also attack targets even in areas where GPS signals are blocked, making it very reliable.
Unlike regular missiles that make a lot of noise, the Warmate TL is very quiet. This makes it hard to detect, especially in urban areas or during counter-insurgency operations. Its ability to wait and strike at the right moment makes it very useful in fast-changing combat situations. The Indian Army has already started using a version of the Warmate loitering munition under emergency measures, showing how effective it is in real battles.
Colonel Sandeep Malik (Retd), Vice President of WB Electronics India, talked about the system’s performance. According to New Indian Express, he said, “The Warmate loitering munition has proven itself in real
combat. Its advanced targeting, quiet operation, and ability to carry different types of weapons make it perfect for modern warfare, especially in high-risk environments.”
India’s interest in loitering munitions has grown because of recent global conflicts. These weapons are seen to improve India’s military capabilities. They provide better situational awareness, allow attacks from a distance, and help neutralise targets quickly.
WB Group’s participation in Aero India 2025 is part of a bigger plan to work more closely with India. The company is investing in the Uttar Pradesh Defence Industrial Corridor and plans to produce more systems locally, transfer technology, and build long-term partnerships with India’s defence sector.
Ashish Sharma said, “As India works towards becoming self-reliant in defence under the Atma Nirbhar Bharat initiative, we see great opportunities to work with Indian defence forces and industries.”
Recent conflicts, like those between Israel and Hamas, Russia and Ukraine, and Armenia and Azerbaijan, have shown how effective loitering munitions can be in modern warfare. These weapons are cheaper than traditional missiles and drones, making them a good option for countries looking to strengthen their military without spending too much.
