BEL QRSAM Order: Bharat Electronics Limited, also called BEL, is about to get a really big order worth ₹30,000 crore for the Quick Reaction Surface-to-Air Missile system, or QRSAM. This deal might get signed by March 2026. If it happens, it will boost BEL’s current order book by almost 40%, which is a very big jump. Right now, BEL already has orders worth ₹74,900 crore, so this new deal will take the total to a huge amount. This deal is also one big step towards making India more self-reliant in defence things.

QRSAM and New Defence Projects
The QRSAM is a fully Indian-made mobile air defence system by DRDO. It protects troops from drones, helicopters, and fighter jets, and can quickly move and target multiple threats at once.
The Defence Acquisition Council approved the QRSAM system on July 3. After that, BEL started waiting for the Request for Proposal, or RFP, to come. The top boss at BEL, Manoj Jain, said the company is fully confident that the deal will get done between February and March 2026. He also said they are trying hard to make sure it doesn’t go into the next financial year.
BEL is not stopping at just QRSAM. It is also waiting for a big order from the Indian Navy. This one is about the EL/M-2248 radar system, also called MF-STAR. It was made by Israel Aerospace Industries and will be used in India’s new warships. BEL might get some orders for parts of this radar system in the next 3 to 6 months. Right now, teams are still talking about the exact setup and details.
BEL is also working on a new radar for the Su-30MKI fighter jets. BEL plans to replace old Russian radars in fighter jets with advanced AESA radars. It’s also developing sonar systems, drones, anti-drone tech, and AI centres to support the Army and Navy.

One of BEL’s biggest projects is called Project Kusha. This is a big air defence system that can shoot down threats coming from far away. BEL hopes it will be even better than Russia’s S-400 system. Project Kusha is still being developed, and it might cost around ₹21,700 crore. BEL thinks they can get this deal in the next three or four years, after all the required permissions are given.
BEL is focusing on drones too. It plans to build four types and expects initial orders by 2025-26. Larger orders are likely to follow in the next couple of years.
BEL’s Profits rise
BEL is also doing well when it comes to money. In the June quarter, their net profit went up by 25% to ₹969 crore. This was even better than what people in the market expected. The company now wants to grow 15% more in its total business by the year 2026. For this, they have kept aside ₹1,000 crore to spend on building and improving their factories.
BEL also wants to send more of its products to other countries. At the moment, 4 to 5% of their income comes from exports, but they want to raise that to 10%. They are aiming to get $120 million worth of export orders in 2026.
By March 2026, BEL is hoping that the total new orders will reach ₹1,05,000 crore. This includes the QRSAM deal, quick buys by the Indian Army, radar systems for the Navy, and many other ongoing defence jobs. To stay ahead, BEL will also put about 6 to 7% of its yearly earnings around ₹1,600 to ₹1,800 crore into research and development. They are focusing on improving tech in areas like electronic warfare, artificial intelligence, and making new simulators for training soldiers.
