India and Japan Defence: Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi, who is the Chief of the Naval Staff, is visiting Japan for four days from July 30 to August 2. On Thursday, he met with Japan’s Defence Minister General Nakatani. Both leaders spoke about finding better ways to work together in defence.

They talked about growing ties in defence technology and industry, and also about sharing training programs and sending naval personnel to each other’s countries. The Indian Navy shared that both sides want to make the relationship even stronger and are looking at how to deal with new security threats together.

India and Japan Defence: Maritime Cooperation
This visit is happening as part of ongoing efforts between the two countries to make their defence partnership even stronger. It’s all part of what India and Japan call their “Special Strategic and Global Partnership.”

One major focus is how the two navies can work more closely in the Indo-Pacific, especially with maritime security becoming more important in the region. The Ministry of Defence said that Admiral Tripathi will be meeting senior Japanese officials during his trip. The meetings will cover a wide range of topics in defence, especially related to working together in sea operations, sharing defence technologies, and creating new ways for the two navies to operate together better.
During his visit, the Naval Chief will also visit Japanese naval units and spend time with the top naval commander at the Self-Defence Fleet base in Funakoshi.
