Crown Defence PCB Assembly: Crown Defence has started a new electronics facility in Verna, Goa. The company has more than 40 years of experience working in defence repair and maintenance across marine aviation and land systems. With this new unit the group is increasing India’s own ability to build high quality electronic parts. The plant will make Printed Circuit Board Assemblies also called PCBA. These are important parts used in defence systems and also in some civil areas like aviation maritime and industrial equipment.
The new facility has been set up under Aviatech Enterprises Pvt. Ltd. AEPL which is the aviation arm of Crown Defence. The unit is built to handle mission critical electronics. It can assemble circuit boards starting from 80 × 80 mm up to 460 × 460 mm. The board thickness can range from 0.4 mm to 8 mm. The company has also kept controlled edge clearance standards of 3-5 mm to meet strict quality needs. The plant will begin operations from March 2026. It is open to work with both Indian and international programmes.

Growing Demand For Local Electronics
This new centre is not just a factory. It is planned as a strategic electronics hub to support the growing need for local PCBA production. Right now the Indian PCBA market is valued at about USD 6.3 billion. It is growing at nearly 16% CAGR because of rising demand from defence industry and electronics manufacturing. The government has also placed import restrictions on more than 1,000 items. Many of these were PCB assemblies earlier bought from other countries.
Vice Admiral (Retd) Paras Nath Group President of Crown Defence spoke about the vision behind the project. He said “Electronics availability increasingly determines platform readiness and upgrade cycles. Establishing in-country PCB assembly capability improves supply predictability and supports India’s broader objectives of reducing external dependencies across defence and critical civil sectors,” he said.

Commodore (Retd) S.K. Iyer Head Aviation at Aviatech Enterprises Pvt. Ltd. also shared his thoughts. He said “The Verna unit enables tighter integration between electronics assembly and downstream aviation support activities, enhancing quality control and execution timelines for modernisation, upgrades and sustainment programmes,” he said.
Crown Defence
Crown Defence was founded in 1978. It is a professionally managed Indian defence engineering group. The company works in aviation marine and land systems. It provides technology manufacturing and full lifecycle support for defence projects. Crown Defence works closely with global OEMs and national agencies. The group supports India’s Make in India and Atmanirbhar Bharat goals by investing in defence engineering electronics and long term infrastructure.
The addition of the new PCB assembly unit at AEPL adds to the group’s strength in system maintenance upgrades and modernisation. It also helps India move closer to being more self reliant in defence and industrial sectors.
