Digital coast guard project: To strengthen India’s digital armed forces, the government of Defence has signed a contract with Telecommunications Consultants India Limited (TCIL), the government announced on Friday. By acquiring the Digital Coast Guard (DCG) project under the Buy (Indian) category, the Rs 588.68-crore contract seeks to enhance India’s digital defence capabilities.

The Indian Coast Guard (ICG) is in charge of the DCG project programme, which will set the course for the country’s technical development.

The pan-India project’s scope includes building a state-of-the-art “Data Centre,” creating a robust “Disaster Recovery Data Centre,” increasing connection across ICG sites, and creating an enterprise resource planning (ERP) system. To further establish itself as a leader in defence technology, the project uses tiny aperture terminal (VSAT) connectivity and encrypted multiprotocol label switching (MPLS). The ministry will save a great deal of money and time by streamlining its logistical procedures through digitization.

In essence, the DCG project announces constructing a Tier-III compliant data centre outfitted with cutting edge technology. Acting as the central hub, this establishment facilitates centralised supervision and administration of the ICG’s applications, guaranteeing careful monitoring of vital IT resources.

Over five years, the project is expected to produce about 150,000 man-days, encouraging active engagement from a variety of Indian industry sectors.

A few weeks ago, President Draupadi Murmu declared that the administration is attempting to bring the vision of “Ports for Prosperity” and “Ports for Progress” to reality. This partnership follows his announcement. This is a component of a bigger plan to support the ICG and improve port infrastructure.
