Brazil Akash missile system export: India’s dream to sell more weapons to other countries just got a big push as Brazil has shown interest in buying the Akash air defence system. This system became very popular after its strong performance during Operation Sindoor. A report from India Today shared that Brazil is now looking closely at India’s defence equipment, especially the Akash missile and even the Scorpene-class submarines. This news came out right when Prime Minister Narendra Modi is getting ready to visit Brazil later this week. His trip to Latin America is very important, and this defence interest from Brazil adds more importance to it.
PM Modi is visiting five countries, and Brazil is one of them. He is going there to attend the 17th BRICS Summit in Rio de Janeiro from July 5 to 8. He will also be visiting other Latin American countries like Argentina during this tour. Defence talks are expected to be a major part of PM Modi’s meetings with the leaders in Brazil. The Secretary (East) from India’s Ministry of External Affairs, P Kumaran, already said on July 2 that India and Brazil will talk about defence plans and ways to work together in this area. He mentioned that they will discuss joint research, training, and even more.
DRDO Defence Communication Technology: Why SDR and CTCS Trials are Important for India’s Defence
according to India TV, Kumaran said, “There’s going to be talk on defence cooperation, avenues for joint research, and training.” He also said Brazil is showing interest in battlefield communication tools, offshore patrol boats, and in working together on their Scorpene submarines. They are also looking at the Akash air defence system, coastal radar systems, and the Garuda artillery guns. Kumaran also said something important about Embraer, the Brazilian aerospace company. He hinted that India and Brazil could start a joint defence project by using Embraer’s aircraft technology skills.
Akash Missile’s Strong Performance
The Akash missile system was made by India’s DRDO and has shown how powerful it is. It really proved itself during Operation Sindoor in May. This happened after a terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir. In response, India launched a military action to destroy terror camps in Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir.
During this operation, the Akash missile system did an amazing job. It helped in hitting Pakistani drones and cruise missiles. It is a surface-to-air missile that can reach up to 25 kilometers. It can take down enemy aircraft and drones flying very fast, even at supersonic speeds.

One of the big reasons why this missile is so trusted now is because it works with India’s new Akashteer system, which uses artificial intelligence. This setup helped the missile hit every single threat with full accuracy. Because of this success, many countries started looking at India’s defence systems seriously, and Brazil seems to be the first to take a real step.
Brazil is even thinking about making some of these weapons with India, which is great for India’s goal to become a country that doesn’t just make weapons for itself but also sells them to the world.
