Indian Crew in Iran: The 17 Indian Crew in an Iranian-seized cargo ship with ties to Israel will have the chance to meet with Indian government representatives, the Iran foreign minister, Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, announced on Monday. This assurance was given in response to External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar’s phone call to his Iranian counterpart, Amir Abdollahian, where he expressed his concerns regarding the well-being of the crew.
The Iranian Foreign Ministry said in a statement that Jaishankar asked for help with the situation. “Dr. Amir Abdollahian said in this regard that we are following up on the details of the seized ship and soon it will be possible for the representatives of the Indian government to meet with the crew of the said ship,” it continued.
To secure the crew members’ immediate release following the ship’s arrest on Saturday, India has been in contact with Iran. As hostilities between Israel and Iran worsen, Jaishankar has urged caution and averted escalation.

India has requested a prompt de-escalation and advised its embassies in the area to maintain regular communication with the Indian community residing in the area.
“We are seriously concerned at the escalation of hostilities between Israel and Iran, which threatens peace and security in the region.” The Ministry of External Affairs stated, “We call for immediate de-escalation, the exercise of restraint, stepping back from violence and returning to the path of diplomacy.”
After the discussion, Iranian Foreign Minister Amir Abdollahian stated that they were checking up on the specifics of the ship that was held and that they would shortly have the opportunity to arrange a meeting between Indian government representatives and the crew of the ship in question.

Additionally, Iran demanded that India continue to play a role in working with international organizations, such as the UN Security Council, to put an end to the war in Gaza, which is the primary cause of the current crises in the area, as well as the aggressions and crimes committed by the Zionist regime.
On Saturday, the Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guards boarded the MSC Aries as it was sailing through the Strait of Hormuz. The Israeli-affiliated container ship was scheduled to arrive on the evening of April 15 at the Mumbai port of Nhava Sheva, with a crew of 17 Indians.
In the wake of Israel’s purported attack on Iran’s consulate in the Syrian capital of Damascus earlier this month, tensions between Iran and Israel escalated. Commandos from Iran’s paramilitary Revolutionary Guard raided the ship close to the Strait of Hormuz by helicopter.
