Axon Vision AI Drone Defense Tech: Leonardo DRS has made a new deal with a company called Axon Vision. The order is worth $350,000. The goal is to help protect the United States in military and homeland security missions. The deal is about fighting dangerous drones in the air. Axon Vision will provide smart systems that use AI to find drones. These systems can spot them, tell what kind they are, follow them in the sky and help stop them before they cause harm.
The order includes the first batch of these AI systems. They are built to handle everything from start to finish. Axon Vision says its new counter-drone system can see and react to fast threats in less than one second. That means it works very quickly. The system mixes sensing. Smart decision making. And threat checking. It is built in parts so it can be added easily to many platforms. These include manned vehicles. Unmanned ground vehicles. And even ships at sea.

Testing the System in Real Missions
Leonardo DRS plans to add this technology into its larger group of sensors and mission tools. Before the system is used widely. It will be tested in real situations. The companies said the systems will be checked during live drills and field exercises. This is how the US military often tests new tools before buying more of them.
The tests will focus on stopping drones and keeping mobile forces safe. These trials are meant to show that the system can work in many places and conditions. They will also show that it is ready to be used quickly if needed.
AI Becoming a Big Part of Drone Warfare
This order from Axon Vision is part of a bigger trend. The US military and defense companies are using more AI for drones and anti-drone work. Shield AI has been growing its Hivemind software since 2023. This software helps uncrewed vehicles work even when GPS or communications are blocked. It has been tested in US military drills.

Anduril Industries is also using a lot of AI. Since the early 2020s. Its systems have been used by US forces and allied countries. These tools use machine learning to tell the difference between small enemy drones and normal things like birds or civilian planes.
Big defense companies are doing the same. Northrop Grumman talked in 2024 about using more AI and smart sensors in its uncrewed and intelligence programs. RTX has also put money into AI tools.
