Noida International Airport: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will open the new Noida International Airport on October 30. The airport is coming up in Jewar, and people are calling it India’s biggest international airport project. Union civil aviation minister Kinjarapu Rammohan Naidu already said that after the launch, passenger flights will begin within 45 days.
He also said, “Major cities like Mumbai, Hyderabad, Bengaluru and Kolkata will be among the first to be linked. Apart from passenger operations, there is also significant potential for cargo flights.” The airport will start by connecting around ten cities in the first phase, and later on it will have international flights too.

Noida International Airport: Security Plan
Ahead of the big opening, the Central Industrial Security Force is taking over the full security at the airport. Director General Rajvinder Singh Bhatti will be there when CISF takes charge. They are setting up a three layer system for safety. CISF soldiers will handle the main circle of security like the gates, runways and terminal.
The second circle will have private guards working inside, and Uttar Pradesh Police will look after the outside third circle. Two separate police stations are already made inside the airport, one for domestic and one for international side, to make sure passengers and VVIPs remain safe.
The Home Ministry has already approved 1,030 security staff for the airport, but the number will go up when more people start traveling. CISF will check all security systems before flights start. They will test scanners, do inspections, and set up security checks everywhere. High-tech machines are already installed, like AI cameras, bomb detecting robots, armored SUVs and modern scanners.
Officials said the airport is also designed with strong safety in mind. They followed special Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design rules to keep every part safe. More than 350 CCTV cameras are watching the area, electric fencing is around the boundary, and all feeds go to one control center which monitors 24×7.
First Phase of the Project
Noida International Airport is being made in four steps. In the first phase there will be one runway and one terminal which can take care of about 12 million passengers in a year. Later this will go up to 30 million in Phase 2, then 50 million in Phase 3, and in the end 70 million passengers when the full airport is ready. In the opening year they expect almost 6 million passengers to travel.

The work faced many delays earlier. The project was supposed to be done by September 2024, then April 2025, then May-June, but terminal work got late again, reported TOI. The state government even started charging the company Yamuna International Airport Private Limited ten lakh rupees fine every day from January 1 because of the delay. Still, by now, most of the basic work is finished. In December 2024, IndiGo even did a test flight there to check navigation and air traffic systems.
Minister Naidu said IndiGo will be the main airline at the start and Akasa Air will also use Noida airport as a hub. Both have already signed agreements. Inside the terminal, workers are finishing the last touches while Airports Authority of India is installing equipment at the new ATC tower.
Officials said a complete ORAT programme is happening before opening. That means there are trial runs, baggage system tests, check-in counter tests, security lane checks, boarding gate checks and staff training. Bureau of Civil Aviation Security already gave airside security clearance on September 15. Directorate General of Civil Aviation licence inspection will happen soon.
