PM Modi praises Indian breeds

Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently appreciated the inclusion of Indian dog breeds in the BSF and CRPF during the 127th episode of his Mann Ki Baat programme on Akashvani. He mentioned a special dog named Riya who si a Mudhol Hound from the BSF, who made history at the All India Police Duty Meet 2024. Riya became the first Indian breed to win both “Best in Tracker Trade” and “Best Dog of the Meet.”

PM Modi’s words have inspired the BSF to keep promoting native breeds that are not only loyal and brave but also better suited for India’s climate and conditions. His encouragement has helped the force focus more on homegrown strength and innovation, a true example of the Aatmanirbhar Bharat vision.

BSF leaders on native breeds’ success

BSF Director General Daljit Singh Chawdhary shared that local breeds such as Rampur Hounds and Mudhol Hounds will perform during the Ekta Diwas Parade. He said, “Indigenous dog breeds, Rampur Hounds and Mudhol Hounds will demonstrate their skills at the Ekta Diwas Parade. These breeds have made significant contributions as force multipliers during BSF operations, embodying the spirit of Aatmanirbhar Bharat.”

Director of the BSF Academy Tekanpur, Dr. Shamsher Singh said that the Prime Minister’s discussion about Indian dogs in Mann Ki Baat inspired them to start new training and breeding programmes. He said “The Prime Minister had discussed about Indian breeds of dogs in the Mann Ki Baat program.
