The signing of this agreement took place during India Maritime Week. It comes soon after the Defence Acquisition Council (DAC) gave its approval to buy new LPDs. These ships are very important for the Indian Navy because they can carry troops, vehicles, and aircraft. They help the Navy do amphibious operations, deliver aid during disasters, and handle humanitarian missions.

Public–Private Partnership

Together both companies want to make high-quality ships faster and at a lower cost. The goal is to reduce the time it takes to build the ships, keep the quality high, and make the process more efficient. This partnership aims to show how government and private companies can work as one team to achieve great results in defence projects.

Vivek Merchant, Director of Swan Defence and Heavy Industries Limited, said, “We are excited to partner with MDL for this prestigious programme. Together, we aim to deliver technologically advanced, globally competitive platforms that will strengthen the Indian Navy’s blue-water capabilities. This TA reinforces our commitment to Atmanirbhar Bharat and to develop India as a global shipbuilding hub.”’
