Sanjay Sadhu Assumes Navy Role of Controller of Warship Production

Vice Admiral Sanjay Sadhu has taken charge as the Controller of Warship Production and Acquisition. He brings over 38 years of naval experience and has served in many important technical and leadership roles.

Navy Controller of Warship Production: Vice Admiral Sanjay Sadhu has taken charge as the Controller of Warship Production and Acquisition (CWP&A). He stepped into this role on Friday. He joined the Indian Navy in 1987 and has served the nation for more than 38 years. He holds a Post-Graduate degree in Mechanical Engineering and an MPhil in Defence and Strategic Studies.

Long Naval Career

Vice Admiral Sadhu worked on many famous Indian Navy ships during his long career. He served on the Aircraft Carrier INS Viraat in different roles. He also served on the frontline frigates INS Brahmaputra and INS Dunagiri. The Ministry said he took part in many Operational, Staff, and Yard duties over the years.

Before he became a Flag Officer, he handled many key jobs. He worked as the Additional General Manager (Production) at Naval Dockyard in Mumbai. He also served as the Commodore Superintendent of the Naval Ship Repair Yard at Karwar. Later he became the Principal Director Marine Engineering at Naval Headquarters in New Delhi, reported The hans India.

He also played a major part in the work on the Aircraft Carrier Vikramaditya, which India received from Russia. He worked in the project as the Senior Naval Engineer Overseer at the Warship Overseeing Team in Severodvinsk, Russia. He later served as the Director Aircraft Carrier Projects and then the Principal Director Aircraft Carrier Projects at Naval Headquarters in New Delhi.

Leadership in Both Coasts

After he rose to Flag Rank, he took on even bigger duties. He worked as the Additional Director General at the Warship Design Bureau in the Submarine Design Group. He also served as the Chief Staff Officer (Technical) in both the Eastern Naval Command and the Western Naval Command.

He led the Dockyard in Visakhapatnam as the Admiral Superintendent. The Ministry noted that he has the rare achievement of heading major Dockyards on both the West Coast and the East Coast. He also served as the Chief Staff Officer (Technical) of both major Naval Commands.

The President of India awarded him the Ati Vishisht Seva Medal and the Nausena Medal for his high service to the nation. Before he became CWP&A, he worked as the Programme Director of the Advanced Technology Vessel Programme in New Delhi.
