Indian Navy’s First Training Squadron Reaches Seychelles’ Port Victoria

The Indian Navy’s First Training Squadron has reached Seychelles’ Port Victoria which highlights naval training, regional security collaboration, and strengthening India–Seychelles defense ties.

Indian Navy Squadron in Seychelles: The ships from the Indian Navy’s First Training Squadron came to Port Victoria in Seychelles on September 1. The squadron has INS Tir, INS Shardul and CGS Sarathi. They are on a long journey in the South West Indian Ocean to train young naval officers and also to build strong ties with friendly countries.

When the ships reached the port, the Seychelles Defence Force band gave them a big welcome. Later the Indian Navy also showed their own Guard and Band on board with equal respect. This whole moment showed the close friendship of both nations.

Meetings and exchanges

Senior Officer 1TS Capt. Tijo K. Joseph will meet important leaders from the Seychelles Government, senior officers of the Seychelles Defence Force and the Indian High Commission. During the stay, both sides will do training activities together, they will have cross-deck visits, and also many learning interactions, Ministry of Defence reported.

There are also plans for yoga classes, band shows, sports matches and community work. These activities are made to bring people closer and share culture in a friendly way.

This is the third time in 2025 that Indian Navy ships have come to Seychelles. The Navy says this visit shows their strong engagement and partnership in the Indian Ocean. It is also a part of the larger vision of MAHASAGAR, which is about building peace and partnership in the region.
