  1. Navy Contingent: Lt Commander Saahil Ahluwalia is all set to lead the Navy contingent at the Republic Day parade in 2025, making it a special moment for him and his family. His father, retired Commodore Ravi Ahluwalia, had led the Navy contingent 34 years ago.

Now he and his family are thrilled to watch Saahil take on the same honor at Kartavya Path. “I am very happy to see that my son will do the same which I did 34 years ago. The hard work put in by the complete contingent will be visible on the Kartavya Path. My best wishes to all these young boys and girls who have chosen the noble profession of the Navy to serve the country,” the retired officer said.

Saahil, a second-generation naval officer, joined the Indian Naval Academy in December 2012, where he was recognized as the best sportsperson of his course. He was commissioned in November 2016 and has served on several frontline warships, including Teg, Kolkata, Tabar, and Kirch. During these deployments, he participated in anti-piracy patrols, operational deployments, and the Covid relief mission, Samudra Setu. His work has also taken him to 27 different countries, where he participated in exercises with various foreign navies.

Saahil’s dedication and achievements have been remarkable. He has twice served as the Guard Officer to the President of India, who is the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces. As a gunner, he has been given the opportunity to lead the Indian Navy contingent at the Republic Day parade.

Sharing his thoughts with News18, Saahil expressed his pride in following his father’s legacy. “It would be a moment of immense pride and honour for me as a second-generation naval officer to follow in my father’s footsteps. It is the culmination of months of relentless hard work, discipline, and teamwork, with every member of the contingent striving for perfection both on the parade ground and behind the scenes. We are very confident that we will win the best marching contingent trophy this year,” he said.

The Ahluwalia family is overjoyed and eagerly waiting for this proud moment, which will honor both Saahil’s dedication and the Navy’s legacy.
