Indian Armed Forces on Republic Day 2025: Republic Day is a special occasion in India, celebrated every year on January 26. This day marks the adoption of the Indian Constitution in 1950, when India became a republic. In 2025, India will celebrate its 76th Republic Day.
The celebrations are held with great enthusiasm and pride, with thousands of people gathering on the ceremonial boulevard in the heart of India’s capital, New Delhi. The event showcases India’s cultural heritage and military strength through a grand parade.
For Republic Day 2025, the Indian Army is focusing on the progress it has made in developing its own equipment. This will be highlighted on Kartavya Path on Sunday, January 26. Among the main attractions of the Army’s display will be missiles and weapons made in India, including the BrahMos supersonic cruise missile, the Akash short-range surface-to-air missile system, and the Nag anti-tank guided missile. The Army will also showcase the Pinaka rocket launcher, which India began shipping to Armenia in November 2024. Additionally, the Russian-made GRAD BM-21 rocket launcher will be on display.

Other highlights of the parade will include the Light Combat Helicopter (LCH) and Advanced Light Helicopter-Weapon Systems Integrated (ALH-WSI).
According to News18, Tanks such as the T-90, BMP-2, and BMP-3 will also participate in the parade, along with a variety of vehicles, including the Vehicle Mounted Infantry Mortar, Light Specialist Vehicles, All-Terrain Vehicles, Specialist Mobility Vehicles, and Quick Reaction Fighting Vehicles. In addition to these, there will be a 10-meter short-span bridge, horses, and motorcycle displays.
The Republic Day procession is a grand affair that involves all three branches of the military. Both the Indian Navy and the Air Force have their own tableaux to showcase their contributions. The Air Force will also perform an exciting flyover, demonstrating its capabilities with a variety of planes flying over the Kartavya Path.
The theme for this year’s Republic Day parade is ‘Swarnim Bharat: Virasat aur Vikas,’ which focuses on India’s rich heritage and progress. Fifteen states and union territories will showcase their tableaus, representing regions such as Chandigarh, Dadar and Nagar Haveli, Daman and Diu, Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, Goa, Gujarat, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Punjab, Tripura, Haryana, Jharkhand, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, and West Bengal. These states will present their tableaus during the parade, while all states and union territories are also invited to display their tableaus at Red Fort from January 26 to January 31, 2025.
On Republic Day, the President of India honors citizens for their contributions to the nation by presenting Padma Awards. The military also receives recognition for bravery, with soldiers being awarded the Paramvir Chakra, Ashok Chakra, and Vir Chakra.

Project Veer Gatha Launched by MoD and MoE
The Ministry of Defence (MoD) and the Ministry of Education (MoE) have also partnered to launch the fourth edition of Project Veer Gatha, a program that inspires schoolchildren by focusing on gallantry award winners, independence warriors, and tribal uprisings. The project has seen an overwhelming response across the country as part of the Republic Day 2025 celebrations.
A hundred national-level champions, called the Super-100, have been selected from various categories, such as Preparatory Stage (Grades 3–5), Middle Stage (Grades 6–8), and Secondary Stage. These winners will be honored in New Delhi with a prize of Rs 10,000 each and will attend the Republic Day Parade 2025 on Kartavya Path as special guests.
Project Veer Gatha, which started during the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav in 2021, aims to instill patriotism and civic values in children. Students were encouraged to write essays about their role models, including Gallantry Award winners and historical figures such as freedom fighters and tribal leaders. Schools held local events, and a total of 4,029 essays were submitted for national evaluation. In addition to national winners, state and district champions will also be recognized for their efforts.
