T-72 BLTs are essential for improving the mobility and operational efficiency of mechanized forces. These tanks come equipped with inbuilt bridge-laying systems that allow them to deploy bridges for tanks and other armored vehicles during both offensive and defensive operations. This capability greatly enhances the Indian Army’s performance in challenging terrains and adverse conditions.

As part of the ‘Aatmanirbhar Bharat’ (Self-Reliant India) initiative, these BLTs are designed and developed domestically. This not only strengthens the defense sector but also promotes indigenous manufacturing, creates local job opportunities, and reduces reliance on imports.
