Tata Boeing 400th Apache Fuselage: Tata Boeing Aerospace Limited (TBAL) has reached a major milestone in India’s defence manufacturing sector by rolling out its 400th fuselage for the AH-64E Apache attack helicopter from its Hyderabad facility.
TBAL is a joint venture between Boeing and Tata Advanced Systems Limited (TASL). The Hyderabad plant makes Apache fuselages in India, which are then used in helicopters supplied to customers around the world, including the U.S. Army. The facility also supports Apache deliveries for the Indian armed forces.

The company said the milestone was achieved at its 52,000-square-metre facility in Hyderabad. TBAL was set up in 2016 and has grown into an important part of the global Apache supply chain.
“Tata Boeing Aerospace Limited, a joint venture between Boeing and Tata Advanced Systems Limited (TASL), has successfully rolled out the 400th fuselage for the AH-64E Apache, the world’s most advanced and proven attack helicopter, from its 52,000 sqm state-of-the-art facility in Hyderabad,” it said.
Made in India and Used Across the World
The fuselages made by TBAL aren’t only for Indian helicopters. They are sent for aircraft that are delivered to different countries. The U.S. Army is also among the customers supported by this Hyderabad facility. Tata Advanced Systems says its partnership with Boeing covers complete Apache fuselage assembly along with secondary structures and vertical spar boxes.
The Indian Air Force has 22 AH-64E Apaches. India also received six Apache helicopters for the Indian Army in 2025. This makes the Hyderabad plant important for India’s own defence needs as well as for Boeing’s international production.
The Apache is one of Boeing’s best-known military helicopters. More than 1,300 Apaches are currently in operation across 19 countries. Boeing says the wider Apache family has recorded more than 5.3 million flight hours.

Big Boost For India’s Aerospace Industry
The Hyderabad unit has more than 750 engineers and technicians working with modern manufacturing systems. Robotics, automation and other aerospace technologies are used to build the fuselage structures.
TBAL’s work is also part of India’s growing role in global aerospace production. Instead of making defence equipment only for the domestic market, Indian factories are now supplying major aircraft parts for international customers.
Tata Advanced Systems currently describes the Hyderabad operation as a global single source for Apache fuselages. The company also works on other major defence aircraft programmes including the C-130J, P-8 and F-16.
