UAV Plant in Uttar Pradesh Defence: A defence company from Sweden called Promoteq has shared plans to open a big drone factory in India. The company will spend ₹500 crore to build this unit inside the Uttar Pradesh Defence Corridor. This will be Promoteq’s first factory in India and is a big step for defence making in the country. The move also shows stronger defence ties between India and Sweden. The project supports India’s goal of making more defence products at home under the “Make in India” plan.
Where the New Factory will be Posted?
The new plant will be built inside the Uttar Pradesh Defence Corridor. This corridor was created to bring big defence companies to India by giving them good roads, ready factory spaces, skilled workers, and easy transport. The area is close to important places like Jewar International Airport, which helps in moving goods faster. Many big defence and aerospace companies have already invested here, and the area is slowly becoming a strong hub for advanced technology and defence work.

The Promoteq drone factory is expected to create more than 1,000 jobs, both direct and indirect. Many young people from local engineering and technical colleges may get work here. Workers will also receive special training with help from experts from Sweden. This training will focus on drone systems, avionics, and software work.
The agreement for this project was signed at the World Economic Forum (WEF) 2026 in Davos. Leaders from the Uttar Pradesh government and Promoteq signed an MoU to work together on drone manufacturing. Officials said Sweden’s strong defence knowledge matches well with India’s aim to grow its own defence industry.
