Pralay Missile: The newly-developed short-range tactical nuclear-tipped missile, Pralay, will make its debut at the Republic Day parade, showcasing India’s advancements in missile technology. Developed by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), the Pralay missile is designed to cater to the country’s defense needs, particularly along its borders with China and Pakistan.

According to India TV, the missile has a range of 350-500 kilometres and is classified as a surface-to-surface, short-range ballistic missile. It carries a payload of 500-1,000 kilograms and is powered by solid fuel, making it highly efficient for battlefield use. Based on the Prithvi Defence Vehicle, the missile offers increased mobility and faster launch capabilities.

Pralay’s precision and flexibility make it an asset for India’s defense strategy. According to a defense official, it is comparable to China’s Dong Feng 12 and Russia’s Iskander missile, the latter of which has been used in the ongoing war in Ukraine. Its high accuracy and ability to change course mid-flight also make it difficult to intercept, adding a strategic advantage.

Developed for deployment along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) with China and the Line of Control (LoC) with Pakistan, Pralay strengthens India’s defense capabilities in critical border regions. This missile, with its significant tactical importance, adds to India’s growing missile arsenal and serves as an important deterrent in the region.
