India’s Defence Exports: India sold more defence goods to other countries in FY 2025-26 than ever before. The total value reached Rs 38,424 crore. This was a very big rise from the year before. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh said the new number shows that more countries now believe in India’s defence products and factories.
He said, “India defence exports have touched a new all-time high with a record Rs 38,424 crore in FY 2025-26. It marks a robust 62.66 per cent growth over the previous fiscal.” He also said, “This big jump of Rs 14,802 crore in defence exports reflects the growing global trust in India’s indigenous capabilities and advanced manufacturing strength.” Official government records also reported the same FY 2025-26 export figure and the 62.66% rise over the previous year.

Big Growth
The new total is much higher than earlier years. Defence exports were Rs 23,622 crore in FY25 and Rs 21,083 crore in FY24. That shows how fast this sector is growing. In only five years, India’s defence exports have gone up by almost three times. The defence ministry called this a major achievement and linked it to the wider push to make India one of the top defence exporters in the world. Earlier official data for FY 2024-25 had already shown a record of Rs 23,622 crore before this new jump in FY 2025-26.
Public and Private Firms
A large part of these exports came from government-run defence companies. Defence public sector undertakings gave Rs 21,071 crore, which was 54.84% of the total. Private companies also played a big part. They added Rs 17,353 crore, or 45.16% of the full number.

The government also said Indian defence goods are now going to more than 80 countries. At the same time, the number of exporters rose to 145 from 128 in the earlier fiscal year. That was a 13.3% increase.
The defence ministry said this rise is not only because of demand from other countries. It also happened because rules have become easier for companies. The government said a better online portal and simpler export approval steps helped businesses move faster. It also said policy support and teamwork between the government and industry helped build a stronger defence manufacturing base.
