BrahMos Missile: India has sent another batch of its powerful BrahMos supersonic cruise missiles to the Philippines. This is the second delivery under a major defence deal signed between India and the Philippines in 2022.
Unlike the first batch, which the Indian Air Force delivered by air in April 2024, this time India used sea transport. This shows that India is improving its ability to deliver defence systems in different ways and is becoming more confident in exporting high-tech weapons.

The defence agreement is worth $375 million and includes three full missile batteries. These batteries come with launchers, command and control systems, and all the support equipment needed, reported by Free Press Journal. India had already sent the first battery by air to show how serious it is about its partnership with the Philippines.
Now, by sending the second battery by sea, India is proving it can meet international defence orders using different shipping methods. This is helping India build a stronger image in the global defence market.
BrahMos Missile Gaining Attention
The BrahMos missile is a joint project by India’s DRDO and Russia’s NPO Mashinostroyenia. It can travel at nearly three times the speed of sound and can be launched from land, ships, or even aircraft. It is one of the fastest cruise missiles in the world.

Today, the missile is an important part of India’s defence exports. More than 80% of its parts are now made in India, showing how much the country has worked toward making it locally.
The Philippines became the first country to officially buy the BrahMos system. Since then, other countries have started showing interest too. In February 2025, DRDO chief Samir V. Kamat said that talks were going on with Indonesia and that more countries, especially in Southeast Asia and the Middle East, are now considering buying the missile.
