This new agreement builds on the first MoU that was signed in January 2026. The main goal is to create a full ecosystem around the E175 jet. The companies are working on many areas like aircraft production, supply chains. They also give epair and maintenance services, pilot training, and also getting enough orders to support the new assembly line in India.
Regional Aviation in India
Jeet Adani spoke about why this project is important. He said, “Regional aviation is the backbone of economic expansion. With initiatives like UDAN transforming air connectivity across Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities, the need for an indigenous regional aviation ecosystem has become critical,” said Jeet Adani, Director, Adani Defence & Aerospace. “This partnership will also strengthen strategic relations between India and Brazil, bringing complementary capabilities together.”
Ashish Rajvanshi, President and CEO of Adani Defence & Aerospace, also shared his views. He said, “We are shaping India’s regional transport aircraft ecosystem, a bold stride toward Aatmanirbhar aviation that bridges urban-rural divides, generates high-skill employment, and elevates India’s position in the global aerospace industry,” said Ashish Rajvanshi, President & CEO, Adani Defence & Aerospace.

Francisco Gomes Neto from Embraer explained why the E175 is important for India. He said, “The E175 has a global track record of enabling efficient, high-frequency regional operations and India is a key growth market in that segment,” said Francisco Gomes Neto, President and CEO, Embraer. “This signing represents a critical milestone for our partnership, as we continue to work together on all aspects of the proposed aerospace ecosystem, including securing orders for a Final Assembly Line in India.”
India’s need for Small Jets
India is one of the fastest growing aviation markets in the world when it comes to passenger numbers. Experts say that in the next 20 years, India may need at least 500 aircraft in the 80 to 146 seat category. This shows strong demand for smaller and fuel efficient jets that can connect short routes and regional cities.
The E175 can carry up to 88 passengers. It is already used in many countries and has a strong track record. In India, it can help open new routes in Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities where bigger planes do not work well. These cities are still not fully connected by air. The E175 can help improve flights between smaller cities and increase regional travel.
The Indian government’s UDAN scheme is already helping more people fly from smaller towns. The E175 fits well with this goal. It offers a simple and proven solution for India’s Regional Transport Aircraft needs.
Adani Defence & Aerospace is India’s largest private company in defence and aerospace. It works in many areas like aircraft systems, drones, avionics, weapons and maintenance services. The company also runs one of the biggest MRO systems in the country and is expanding pilot training programs.
