Defence Ministry Deal with ACE & JCB: The Indian defence ministry has signed two important contracts with ACE Limited and JCB India Limited. These contracts are for buying 1,868 Rough Terrain Fork Lift Trucks (RTFLTs) for the Indian Army, Indian Air Force, and Indian Navy. The total cost of these trucks is Rs 697.35 crore. Defence Secretary RK Singh was present during the signing of the contracts.
The Rough Terrain Fork Lift Trucks are very important equipment for the armed forces. They will help in many tasks during combat and logistics operations. These trucks will reduce the need for manual handling of heavy stores, making the work of the armed forces faster and more efficient. This will improve the overall effectiveness of the Indian military.

The Ministry of Defence said that this project will create many job opportunities, both directly and indirectly. It will also help small and medium-sized businesses (MSMEs) by encouraging them to manufacture parts for these trucks. This is a big step towards modernising India’s defence infrastructure and supporting the ‘Aatmanirbhar Bharat’ (Self-Reliant India) mission.
According to ThePrint, the ministry stated, “This is a ‘Buy Indian’ project, which means it will boost India’s ability to make its own defence equipment.” The government has introduced many policies and reforms to encourage Indian companies to design, develop, and produce defence equipment. This will help India become more self-reliant in defence manufacturing.
The government is also investing a lot of money in defence and aerospace manufacturing. Several defence hubs are being set up across the country. Many global companies have already shared, or are willing to share, their expertise in defence and aerospace with India. This will help India improve its technology and manufacturing capabilities.
