Bharat Forge Simha 4×4: Kalyani Strategic Systems Ltd, or KSSL, the defence arm of Bharat Forge Ltd, has shown a new vehicle called the Simha 4×4 at the Eurosatory 2026 defence event in Paris. It is a light armoured multi-purpose vehicle. The company says it is the latest step in its growing set of Indian defence machines. The new vehicle was made together with Paramount, a global aerospace and defence company. It is built for armed forces in India, Africa, South Asia and other markets too.

Made for Army jobs
The Simha 4×4 is not just for one task. It is a modular vehicle, so it can be changed for different jobs. It can work as a reconnaissance vehicle, border security vehicle, troop carrier, command-and-control unit, or even for special operations. KSSL and Paramount say it is made to handle both city fighting and rough road and off-road missions. They also say it uses proven parts, which means it is built on trusted systems that can be upgraded later when needs change. The companies add that the vehicle was made with advanced digital engineering tools and went through strong testing before being shown to the public.

Amit Kalyani, Vice Chairman and Joint Managing Director of Bharat Forge, said the platform has been designed around NATO-qualified aggregates and can be rapidly industrialised in partner countries. He also said, “Simha 4×4 reflects the depth of engineering and defence expertise we bring to the global stage. Europeanised by design and built around NATO-qualified aggregates, it is engineered for rapid industrialisation in partner nations across the world,” Kalyani said.

Eric Ichikowitz, Senior Vice President of Paramount, said defence forces around the world want flexible platforms that can use new technology and still support local manufacturing. That is why the Simha 4×4 has been planned with localisation in mind. The idea is that partner countries may be able to make it at home. That can help them build stronger local defence industry and depend less on imported equipment.
Plans for Bharat Forge and KSSL
The launch also fits into a bigger plan for Bharat Forge. Through KSSL, the group has been building work in artillery systems, armoured vehicles, ammunition, small arms, marine platforms and unmanned systems. KSSL itself says it is a subsidiary of Bharat Forge and a main holding company for defence and aerospace work. Its website says its offerings cover Artillery Systems, Protected Vehicles, Armoured Vehicles Upgrade, Ammunition, Air Defense solutions and Defense Electronics Publication.
This new vehicle adds one more export-focused product to that list. The timing matters too. Eurosatory 2026, held from 15 to 19 June 2026 in Paris Nord Villepinte, is one of the biggest global defence and security events.
