US Iron Dome: US President Donald Trump signed an executive order to plan a missile defense system similar to Israel’s Iron Dome. This system, called “Iron Dome for America,” aims to protect the country from threats like ballistic, hypersonic, and advanced cruise missiles. The move fulfills a promise Trump made during his election campaign.
The executive order emphasizes the growing danger from advanced missile technologies developed by unnamed adversaries. According to The Week, it states, “Over the past 40 years, the threat from next-generation weapons has only increased and become more complex.” The plan is to create a multi-layered defense system that can counter these threats effectively.

News reports, including CNN, mentioned that this defense shield would guard against a wide range of advanced aerial attacks. The decision comes amid rising tensions and an arms race between the United States and China, with China rapidly expanding its nuclear capabilities.
The U.S. already has some defense systems in place, like the long-range Patriot missiles and short-range systems such as Stinger missiles. However, this new plan seeks to strengthen and modernize the country’s missile defense further.
During Trump’s first term, he also created the U.S. Space Command and the U.S. Space Force. These organizations focus on protecting U.S. satellites and ensuring space security. The U.S. has warned for years that countries like China and Russia are developing space weapons to disrupt American satellites, which are crucial for communications and defense.

To counter these threats, the U.S. Space Force is working on building a network of low-orbit satellites. These satellites will make it easier to detect and track missile launches quickly, offering better protection to the country. This new missile defense plan is part of a broader strategy to strengthen U.S. security against modern threats.
