EVA Air Boeing 787 Jets: EVA Air has decided to spend more than NT$65 billion to make its long-distance fleet stronger and better. The airline’s board approved this plan on Friday, 26th December 2025. The company wants to match its route needs, improve flight operations, and handle growing demand for international travel from its main hub at Taipei Taoyuan International Airport.

As part of this plan, EVA Air will buy 4 more Boeing 787-9 aircraft. The total cost of this purchase will not go above US$1.94 billion, which equals NT$60.96 billion. The airline made this decision to support its medium and long-haul routes and to prepare for future growth.

Upgrades and Lease Extensions for Boeing 777 Fleet

At the same time, EVA Air will keep 4 Boeing 777-300ER aircraft on lease for a longer time. The airline will also upgrade the cabins of 6 Boeing 777-300ER aircraft. These two steps together will cost no more than US$152 million, or NT$4.776 billion.

The cabin upgrade work will start in 2026. EVA Air will improve seats, in-flight entertainment systems, and the overall cabin feel in all travel classes. The airline also plans to add more seats in Royal Laurel Class to meet future demand from passengers.

By including 6 more Boeing 777-300ER aircraft in this upgrade plan, EVA Air will now refurbish a total of 20 aircraft. This move will help keep the cabin look and comfort level the same across the long-range fleet, especially when the new Airbus A350-1000 aircraft start arriving in 2027.

Right now, EVA Air operates 89 passenger and cargo aircraft. Along with the newly approved 4 Boeing 787-9 jets, the airline already has orders for 5 more Boeing 787-9 aircraft and 4 Boeing 787-10 aircraft. EVA Air expects to receive all these Boeing planes before 2033.

Looking further ahead, EVA Air plans to receive 24 Airbus A350-1000 wide-body aircraft starting in 2027. The airline also expects delivery of 18 Airbus A321neo aircraft beginning in 2029.
