India Indigenous Weapon Projects: India’s Defence Ministry plans to hold an important meeting today. The Defence Acquisition Council will lead this meeting. This council acts as the top body that approves defence purchases. Senior defence officials and military leaders will attend. The meeting will focus on clearing many big defence projects made inside India.
One major plan includes a fully Indian integrated air defence weapon system. This system will protect the Delhi NCR region from threats coming from the air. The system will watch the skies and stop enemy aircraft or missiles before they can cause damage. The council will also look at a proposal from the Indian Army to boost its drone power. The army wants to buy around 850 loitering munitions, ET reports.

Navy, Air Force, and Tank Upgrades
The Indian Navy will present a plan to buy many Medium-Range Surface-to-Air Missile systems. Indian companies will supply these weapons. The navy wants these missiles to protect its warships from air attacks. The council will also discuss a plan to lease two Sea Guardian MQ-9B HALE drones from the US. India plans to use these drones for around three years. India has already signed a deal to buy 31 of these drones. These drones will start coming to India from 2028 onward.
The Indian Air Force will also get attention in the meeting. The Defence Ministry may approve the development and purchase of a very large number of Astra Mark 2 air-to-air missiles. These missiles can strike targets over 200 km away. The meeting will also cover a plan to buy a specific number of Meteor air-to-air missiles. Another proposal involves buying a large number of Spice-1000 air-to-ground missiles from Israel for the Air Force.
The Indian Army has also asked for approval to overhaul 200 T-90 tanks. An Indian defence public sector unit will carry out this work.

Rockets and Refuellers
The Defence Acquisition Council will also discuss a plan to develop new Pinaka rockets with a range of 120 km. These rockets will use the same launcher that already fires the 45 km and 80 km range rockets. This upgrade will help the army strike targets much farther away without changing its launch systems.
Another key topic includes the possible purchase of six mid-air refueller aircraft. Israeli Aircraft Industries stands as the only vendor for this deal. These aircraft will help fighter jets stay in the air longer by refuelling them during flight.
Alongside defence news, several learning programs also appear in the information shared. These include “Financial Freedom Session” which is a 3-hour online live session on 28th December 2025.
Another program named “Valuation Masterclass” starts on 17th January 2026 and runs for 4 days. “Agentic AI Masterclass” will take place on 24 & 25 Jan during the weekend. An “AI BootCamp For Students” also appears with only 7% seats left. These sessions aim to teach finance and AI skills and come with certifications from major Indian media groups.
