Union Budget 2026 for CAPFs: The Union Budget for 2026-27 has given more money to the Ministry of Home Affairs. The MHA has been given more than Rs 1,84,000 crore for the next year. This is over Rs 13,505 crore more than last year’s revised amount.
When money given to Union Territories is also added, the total budget for MHA becomes Rs 2,55,233.53 crore. This is almost 9% higher than last year’s budget estimate of Rs 2,33,210.68 crore. A separate Rs 6,000 crore has been kept aside for Census work. The first step of the Census will start from April 1. The Census was earlier planned for 2020-21 but got delayed because of COVID-19.

ITBP: Biggest rise in funding
The biggest rise in funding among these forces went to the Indo-Tibetan Border Police. The ITBP guards the Line of Actual Control with China and plays a very important role in high-altitude border areas. This year the ITBP received Rs 11,324.08 crore while last year it had Rs 9,868.85 crore. This means its budget rose by more than 14%, which is the highest jump among all CAPFs.

The Central Armed Police Forces got the biggest share of the budget. They received Rs 1,73,802.53 crore in total.
Among Union Territories:
- Jammu and Kashmir got the highest money at Rs 43,290.29 crore.
- Delhi received Rs 1,348 crore.
- Andaman and Nicobar Islands will get Rs 6,680.94 crore.
- Chandigarh has been given Rs 5,720.17 crore.
- Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu got Rs 2,832.70 crore.
- Ladakh received Rs 4,869.31 crore.
- Lakshadweep got Rs 1,682.35 crore.
- Puducherry has been given Rs 3,517.88 crore.
CRPF
Among CAPFs, the CRPF received Rs 38,517.9 crore. This is more than last year’s revised figure of Rs 37,251.48 crore. The BSF got Rs 29,567.64 crore which is almost the same as last year.
CISF
CISF received Rs 15,973.85 crore. ITBP got Rs 11,324.08 crore which is higher than before. SSB was given Rs 10,984.51 crore. Assam Rifles received Rs 8,796.68 crore. All last year numbers are revised estimates.

Police and Border Spending
Extra money has also been given to improve work on the ground. The BSF got Rs 95 crore more for its Air Wing. This includes planes boats and helibase buildings. The CRPF will keep working in areas like Jammu and Kashmir and places affected by Naxal violence. The BSF guards more than 6,000 km of borders with Pakistan and Bangladesh.
The Intelligence Bureau got Rs 6,782.43 crore which is a big jump from last year. Delhi Police received Rs 12,503.65 crore.
Special Protection Group
The Special Protection Group was given Rs 499.99 crore which is slightly less than before.
- Jammu and Kashmir Police got Rs 9,925.50 crore which is higher than last year.
- For police upgrades and crime tracking systems the budget gave Rs 450.54 crore.
- Areas affected by Left Wing Extremism got Rs 3,610.80 crore.
- Border infrastructure got Rs 5,576.51 crore.
- Police buildings and facilities got Rs 5,393.37 crore.
- Women safety schemes received Rs 889.05 crore.
- Prison upgrades got Rs 300 crore.
- The Vibrant Villages Programme got Rs 350 crore for phase one and Rs 300 crore for phase two.
- Autonomous bodies like the Land Ports Authority National Forensic Science University and Rashtriya Raksha University received Rs 665.40 crore.
