Navy Tableau Highlight: This year, the Navy will show how it is becoming stronger in three ways. Lieutenant Commander Mamata Sihag said that the Navy’s display will focus on three new Indian-made warships. These ships are INS Surat, INS Nilgiri, and INS Vaghsheer. Prime Minister Narendra Modi commissioned them on January 15 in Mumbai.

According to ET she said, “This year, we want to show the power of the Navy and how we are growing. The main focus will be on the three new warships made in India. They were commissioned by PM Modi, and this shows how we are becoming more self-reliant.”

PM Modi said it is the first time a destroyer, a frigate, and a submarine were commissioned together. INS Surat is a destroyer, INS Nilgiri is a frigate, and INS Vaghsheer is a submarine. The Ministry of Defence said this is part of India’s move towards building its own warships under the Aatmanirbhar Bharat program.

PM Modi talked about why the Navy is so important. He said India must protect its seas to stay safe and grow. This includes stopping terrorism and illegal trade on the water and keeping trade routes secure. He said, “This is key for our economy and energy security.”
