The Indian Navy, including Shakti, recently visited Singapore to enhance maritime stability and security, promoting naval cooperation and interoperability between the two nations’ fleets.

Indian Naval Ships Visit Singapore: From May 6-9, three Indian naval vessels visited Singapore as part of an initiative to enhance maritime stability and security in the region. A PIB press release stated that the vessels Delhi, Shakti, and Kiltan were operationally deployed to the South China Sea as part of the Eastern Ship of the Indian Navy.

The Republic of Singapore Navy ship commander was available for interaction with the ship crews during the visit at Singapore Naval Headquarters. This gave talks on improving naval cooperation and interoperability between the two nations’ fleets a chance.

Rear Admiral Rajesh Dhankhar, the fleet commander of the Eastern fleet, and the ship’s commanding officers spoke with the Republic of Singapore Navy fleet commander at the Singapore Naval Headquarters.

During the visit, talks on improving naval cooperation and interoperability between Singapore’s and India’s navies were had. Onboard INS Shakti, there was a deck party where members of the local diplomatic community, the Indian diaspora in Singapore, and both fleets got to mingle and strengthen their friendships and respect.

On board INS Shakti, there was also a deck reception where schoolchildren from Singapore and the Indian diaspora could meet with Indian naval officers to learn about maritime operations, India’s rich maritime history and legacy, and the importance of maritime security.

In addition, cross-ship tours and the Subject Matter Expert Exchange (SMEE) for staff members of the Indian and Republic of Singapore Navys were part of the visit. The younger generation was to be inspired and a better knowledge of nautical matters should be promoted.

Interactions between the two fleets will improve collaboration and maritime security between Singapore and India.
