India Indonesia Defence Collaboration: Indonesia is eager to work with India in the field of defense technology. Indian Navy Chief Admiral Dinesh K. Tripathi had detailed discussions with top military leaders of Indonesia to strengthen strategic ties. The Indian Navy will take part in a multilateral naval exercise hosted by the Indonesian Navy in Bali in February next year, as announced by the Indonesian Military (TNI).
According to Theprint, During a meeting in Jakarta on December 17, 2024, Admiral Tripathi informed TNI Chief General Agus Subiyanto about India’s participation in the exercise. Admiral Tripathi is on a four-day visit to Indonesia, which started on Sunday.

The minister expressed his “enthusiasm for working together to improve Indonesia’s defence technology,” it said.
Indonesian Defense Ministry Discussions
The discussions focused on improving defense cooperation, including joint exercises, according to the Indonesian defense ministry. Admiral Tripathi shared India’s progress in developing homegrown technologies for its Navy, which was praised by Sjafrie.
The Indian Navy chief also acknowledged Indonesia’s efforts in hosting important multinational exercises like the Multilateral Naval Exercise (MNEX) and the Super Garuda Shield joint drill.
“The Indian Navy chief expressed his desire to send the Indian Navy fleet to participate in the Multilateral Exercise organized by the Indonesian Navy which is planned to be held in Bali in February next year,” the TNI Headquarters said in a statement on Tuesday, December 17, 2024, according to Indonesiabusinesspost.

The TNI Chief welcomed the Indian Navy’s decision to join the Joint Naval Exercise and expressed hope that military cooperation between the two countries, including operations and joint exercises, would continue to grow and strengthen.
“Thank you for this constructive meeting, and I hope that military cooperation between Indonesia and India can continue to be enhanced in the future so that it can make positive contribution to security stability in the region,” General Agus concluded.
