CENJOWS and MCMM MoU

CENJOWS and MCMM MoU: In a move to strengthen India’s self-reliance in defense capabilities, the Centre for Joint Warfare Studies (CENJOWS), a tri-services think tank under the Ministry of Defence, has joined forces with the Military College of Material Management (MCMM) based in Jabalpur. The two institutions signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to enhance collaboration and drive research in critical areas.

The agreement paves the way for establishing the ‘MCMM Chair of Excellence’ at CENJOWS, which will focus on creating standardized protocols for quality assurance, control, and user trials of munitions for the Indian Army. Lt Gen Sanjay Sethi, Commandant of MCMM, and Maj Gen (Dr) Ashok Kumar, Director General of CENJOWS, formalized the partnership during a ceremony held earlier today.

  • Capacity Building: Organizing seminars, workshops, and training programs for stakeholders, including armed forces personnel, NDMA officials, and other key agencies.

  • International Engagements: Facilitating global collaboration on disaster management, aligning with India’s foreign policy objectives.

During the event, Maj Gen (Dr) Ashok Kumar underscored the importance of research-driven development to provide actionable, policy-level recommendations for standardization across the tri-services. As per Thestatesman, the collaboration will also involve an in-depth study aimed at creating robust quality assurance and control (QA/QC) protocols tailored for the Indian Army. This initiative seeks to improve procurement and contracting systems, develop standardized methods for streamlined assistance, and establish specific guidelines for inspection, proofing, and certification.

Additionally, MCMM and CENJOWS plan to host workshops, seminars, and discussions with key stakeholders to accelerate progress toward indigenisation. The study will document these efforts, highlighting steps taken to promote self-reliance (Aatmanirbharta) while addressing the operational needs of all three military services.
