India’s Tri-services Launch: Latest withdrawal along the Line of Actual Control in eastern Ladakh has followed an Indian strategy, which includes conducting one of its largest tri-service drills called ‘Poorvi Prahaar’.

The tri- service drill will begin from November 8 with a view to project the force power of India’s integrated defense along its eastern border. Poorvi Prahaar, the exercise of the integrated defense will be a thoroughly coordinated drill among the army, navy and airforce where it would prove its fight readiness.

This year, the Army will see Infantry Combat units, Artillery Guns, Light Combat Helicopters (LCH), and Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) among their deployed forces.

The IAF will activate key air bases in Kolkata, Hashimara, Paanagarh, and Kalaikunda with all their Su-30MKIs, Rafales, C-130Js, Hawks, and various helicopter units. The Indian Navy will contribute the elite MARCOS commandos to the exercise. It is going to test their joint operational capabilities of significant proportions.

“The exercise will test synergy among the Army, Navy, and Air Force and strengthen our operational preparedness and defence posture in the eastern sector”, a defence official said.
Poorvi Prahaar is strategically important as India enhances military positioning along the Arunachal Pradesh border. After successful disengagement in eastern Ladakh, the negotiations with China are in place to de-escalate tensions in the eastern sector.

Among the talks are restoring patrolling rights in the Yangtse region of the Tawang sector, whose rights were restricted after the clash with the PLA last December.

“With ongoing dialogue with China, India is upscaling its joint combat capabilities along the LAC,” sources said to India Today. “This dual approach strengthens India’s leverage for a peaceful resolution while showing our readiness to defend our sovereignty.”

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh is likely to visit the Tawang sector on Diwali. It would be a strong reflection of the government’s resolve to strengthen the defences in the region.

Poorvi Prahaar will also be prepared during this period, which is an important symbol of India’s commitment to protecting its borders and being prepared for any situation that may arise along the LAC.
