DRDO Anti-Drone Systems: The Indian Army is working harder to stop drones coming from Pakistan. These drones are being used to watch, spy, and even carry weapons or drugs across the border. To deal with this, the Army is now getting nine more special laser-based systems that can stop drones in the air.
These systems are made in India by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO). The Army already has seven of these systems, and now the Defence Ministry has allowed a quick purchase of nine more under emergency rules to keep the country safe.
These machines are called Integrated Drone Detection and Interdiction Systems. They can find and stop drones using a powerful laser. The Army is using them mostly in Jammu and Kashmir, where drone problems are rising fast. Officials say many of these drones are made in China and are being sent from across the border in Pakistan, reported ANI.

The laser-based systems are helping a lot. Not long ago, one of these DRDO-made systems shot down a drone that flew in from Pakistan. The Army used it in the 16 Corps area, which is part of Jammu. The drone was seen near the Line of Control, and the Army’s Air Defence teams took it down quickly using the laser weapon south of the Pir Panjal mountains.
This laser uses 2 kilowatts of power and can hit targets up to 1,000 meters away. That means it can stop drones before they get close enough to cause harm.
India Plans Bigger Laser Weapons to Fight Larger Drones
India is not stopping with just the smaller laser systems. Scientists and defence experts are also building a stronger version with 30 kilowatts of power. This new system will be ready in about two years. It will not only stop drones, but will also be strong enough to destroy bigger flying machines like aircraft and even cruise missiles. This stronger weapon will make India’s air defence even better and more advanced.
Many countries around the world are facing drone attacks, and India is now one of the few countries making these laser defence systems on its own. These machines are not just helpful, they show that India can fight new kinds of threats with modern ideas and local talent. As the way of fighting wars keeps changing, India is showing it can keep up with the changes.

Laser Tech in Modern Security
The laser systems do more than just shoot down drones. They show that India can build its own high-tech defence tools without needing help from other countries. Drones are small, cheap, and easy to fly, and many people use them to spy or smuggle things. The Army needs to stop these fast, and lasers are turning out to be a smart solution.
Right now, the 2-kilowatt systems are working well and helping the soldiers on the ground. But when the 30-kilowatt systems come in, they will help even more. These new machines will reach further and will be able to handle bigger dangers.
