Indian Armed Forces Depart for Multilateral Exercise ZAPAD 2025 in Russia

A 65-member Indian Armed Forces team has left for Russia to join Exercise ZAPAD 2025, aiming to boost cooperation, practice joint operations, and strengthen defence ties with global partners.

Multilateral Exercise ZAPAD 2025: A group of 65 members from the Indian Armed Forces has now left for Russia to take part in the big joint military exercise called ZAPAD 2025. The exercise will happen from 10 to 16 September at the Mulino Training Ground in Nizhniy. This is one of the large multinational drills where soldiers from different countries come together to train side by side.

The Indian team is made of 57 soldiers from the Indian Army, 7 from the Indian Air Force, and 1 member from the Indian Navy. The main strength of the Army group is a battalion from the famous KUMAON Regiment, and they are also joined by other troops from different arms and support services, reported DD news. This makes the team mixed with experience from many branches.

Multilateral Exercise ZAPAD 2025: Focus of the Exercise

The goal of ZAPAD 2025 is to build stronger military cooperation the drills will give a chance to share tactics, new fighting methods, and also ways to plan missions better. The exercise will focus on joint company-level operations in open fields. Soldiers will practice how to plan, how to do tactical drills, and how to use special combat skills in different conditions.

This training is also about modern technology. Countries will test how new tools and systems can be used in a real battlefield situation. By practicing together in one large environment, the forces will improve how they respond in joint operations and build trust between each other.
