India Grants Honorary Army Rank to Nepal’s Chief of Army Staff

Nepali Army Chief Ashok Raj Sigdel was awarded the honorary rank of General of the Indian Army by President Droupadi Murmu, recognizing his contributions to strengthening Nepal-India friendship.

This recognition highlights his contributions to strengthening the friendship between Nepal and India, as well as his military expertise.

According to IndiaToday, during his visit, General Sigdel held high-level meetings with Indian officials, including National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan, Defence Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh, and Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri.

These discussions focused on shared defence and security concerns, further enhancing the relationship between the two countries.

The Nepali Army chief also met with representatives from India’s defence industry and praised the “Atmanirbhar Bharat” initiative for promoting self-reliance in defence production. The day concluded with a banquet hosted by Indian Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi, aiming to foster stronger personal ties and trust between the military leaders.
