Arjan Singh Memorial hockey tournament: The ‘Marshal of the Indian Air Force Arjan Singh Memorial’ hockey tournament, according to Air Chief Marshal V R Chaudhari on Tuesday, has genuinely lived up to the hype, with the calibre of play only becoming better with time. “Over the years the quality of play and skill level has continued to grow and this tournament has uplifted the game of hockey to a level comparable to international standards,” Chaudhari stated.
At the tournament’s fifth edition, he was giving a speech as the featured speaker during the closing ceremony.
According to Economic Times, in the competition final, Punjab and Sind Bank emerged victorious over the Indian Air Force, defeating them 12–11 through a penalty shootout.
Both teams were tied at three points at the end of regulation.

In the first minute of play, PSB took the lead, but in the sixth, IAF equalized from a penalty corner. In the very next minute, IAF scored another goal to make the score 2-1. They continued to attack. The advantage was then extended to 3-1.
In the last minute of the first half, or second quarter, PSB scored their second goal, tying the score at three points.
In the meantime, IAF commander Chaudhari stated that the youth of the nation and the subcontinent have shown a great deal of enthusiasm for this competition, just like it did for its prior incarnations.
“We were privileged to host air force teams from Bangladesh and Sri Lanka for this year’s tournament,” he stated.
“To start, I would like to congratulate both teams for today’s thrilling match that was worthy of a final,” he remarked at the opening of his remarks. Your all-around competitive spirit, talents, and sportsmanship have been of the highest caliber. He claimed that the entire tournament’s matches were played with the utmost sportsmanship and unity.
In addition, he expressed his gratitude to all the coaches and support personnel for their tireless efforts in bringing out the best in their teams and making this event a huge success.
“For all those teams that could not get a podium finish, I would like to tell you do not get dishearten with the results. Take it as a challenge, put your best forward for the future by working on your performance. Aim to come back stronger, better and sharper next year,” he stated.
RENK Group Commences Construction on New Factory in India
The 3 Base Repair Depot, Air Force Station’s Raghbir Singh Bhola Hockey Ground served as the venue for the competition.
Remarkably, since 2018, the Air Force Sports Control Board has been holding the competition at 3 BRD, Air Force Station, Chandigarh, in honor of the late, great Air Force marshal Arjan Singh.
During the Indo-Pak War of 1965, Arjan Singh, a legendary figure in Indian military history, led the IAF to victory.
Singh, who was 98 years old, passed away on September 16, 2017.
