In the Tamil Nadu state’s Defense Industrial Corridor, a new production facility spanning approximately 7000 square meters will be constructed by 2025 for both military and civilian use. In collaboration with renowned developer Horizon Industrial Parks—owned and operated by Blackstone Real Estate Funds—RENK will bring this project to fruition.
At a groundbreaking ceremony, Urvish Rambhia, a principal at Blackstone, Praveen Mohan, managing director of RENK Gears Pvt Ltd, an Indian subsidiary of the RENK Group, and Andre Neumann, CEO of the Marine and Industrial section of the RENK Group, officially announced the start of construction.
According to Indian Defence News, the new facility will be in Shoolagiri Park, which is a big industrial area that Horizon owns and runs. Horizon will build a warehouse, production rooms, and an office building for RENK. Once the plant opens, which should happen in the first quarter of 2025, it will make gearboxes, transmissions, and couplings for both military and commercial use.
With the groundbreaking ceremony at Shoolagiri Park, the RENK Group’s plan to expand around the world takes a big step forward.
The company is now closer to the strategically important and economically crucial Indo-Pacific area. RENK will be able to improve its global supply lines and grow its market share in India with the help of the new factory.
A news release from the company cited Neumann as saying, “I am very pleased to accompany this important moment in RENK’s history here in India.” For many years, RENK and India have had a trustworthy connection. Expanding our production facilities in one of the world’s most dynamic nations made sense for this reason.
We are honored and appreciative to be working with our fantastic local partners in India to further expand the RENK Group.
“This is a milestone event for RENK in India,” said Mohan. “Investments for the state-of-the-art manufacturing facility for RENK products in defence and industrial applications shows the high commitment of RENK Group for ‘Make In India’ and to our customers and partners in India. Once completed, this facility significantly increases the production capacity and opens up opportunities for localising well-known RENK products in India for India and neighbouring countries.”
