The Indian Air Force celebrated its 93rd anniversary in Guwahati with a stunning air show over the Brahmaputra, featuring Rafale, Sukhoi, and Tejas jets performing breathtaking formations and aerial displays.

IAF 93 Years Foundation day: The Indian Air Force will mark its 93rd anniversary with a huge air show over the Brahmaputra River at Lachit Ghat in Guwahati on November 9. The event will bring together some of the IAF’s best aircraft and pilots.. Preparations are in full swing as aircraft and aerobatic teams reach Guwahati for rehearsals and coordination drills ahead of the big day.

A Spectacular Flying Display

According to the Defence public relations office in Guwahati, the flying display will take place from 1100 hrs to 1400 hrs on both November 8 and 9. People can watch the show from both sides of the Brahmaputra River. The show will feature aircraft like the Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) Tejas, Rafale fighter jets, and the Suryakiran Aerobatic Team (SKAT). The event will be one of the biggest air displays in the Northeast and aims to inspire the youth and celebrate India’s growing strength in the skies.

This year, the Air Force Day celebrations carry the theme “Infallible, Impervious and Precise.” The theme shows the IAF’s focus on strong operations, resilience, and accuracy. The fly-past will feature nearly 60 aircraft, including Sukhoi, Rafale, Mirage, and Apache helicopters, flying together in formations named after well-known places in the Northeast like Lachit, Kaziranga, Manas, Elephant, and Barak.

Tribute to the Northeast

The LCA Tejas will open the grand display with the call sign “Lachit,” a salute to the great Assamese warrior Lachit Barphukan. The Apache helicopters will fly under the call sign “Rhinoceros,” showing respect for the region’s famous wildlife and the one-horned rhino of Assam.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Chief of Air Staff Air Chief Marshal A.P. Singh, and Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma will attend the event. Security and operational readiness have been tightened across seven major airbases in Assam and West Bengal, including Guwahati, Tezpur, Hasimara, and Bagdogra. A NOTAM has been issued for the duration of the show to ensure smooth air operations.
