Vector Technics Expands Drone Propulsion Production to 300,000 Units a Year

Vector Technics has increased its production capacity to 300,000 units annually, becoming India’s largest fully integrated drone propulsion manufacturer and boosting indigenous UAV technology for defence and commercial applications.

Vector Technics Drone Production: Vector Technics, the Hyderabad-based company under Zen Technologies, has now scaled its manufacturing to 300,000 units a year. The company says this makes it India’s largest fully integrated drone propulsion maker. Its Shamshabad facility now handles the full propulsion stack from start to finish. That includes BLDC motors, speed controllers, propellers, power electronics, IC engines, and starter-generators. Zen Technologies said this move is meant to help India build more drone parts inside the country instead of depending on outside suppliers.

What does it Builds In-House?

Vector Technics says it does not just put parts together. It designs and makes the full system on its own. That includes motor winding, firmware, power electronics, carbon-fibre reinforced propellers, and UAV engines. The company also says its systems are made without Chinese parts and without imported firmware.

Each unit is checked against NABL-accredited thrust benchmarks before it is sent out. The company says this is important because drone buyers now care about who wrote the firmware, where the materials came from, and whether the whole system can be trusted in real use.

The product range is wide. It includes BLDC motors for FPV, tactical, heavy-lift cargo, fixed-wing long-range, and VTOL platforms. It also includes 60cc, 170cc, and 210cc boxer IC engines for hybrid-VTOL and fixed-wing UAVs. On top of that, it makes starter-generators, speed controllers, propellers, and power electronics for onboard power and flight support. Vector says these parts are already used in frontline Indian defence programs.

This change matters because India’s drone industry has often depended on imported propulsion parts. Vector Technics says its work fits the IDDM idea, which stands for Indigenously Designed, Developed and Manufactured. That model focuses on local design, local intellectual property, and reliable performance in real field conditions. The company says every product is tested carefully before delivery so it can be used for defence as well as commercial work.

Prudhvi Raj Pakalapati, Co-Founder and CEO of Vector Technics, said, “A drone is only as indigenous as what drives it.” He added that the company spent seven years building its own motors, firmware, and engines, and that the IP lives in Hyderabad. His message was clear. The goal is not just to catch up. It is to set the standard for Indian drone propulsion.

Zen Technologies had already disclosed in 2025 that it held a 51% controlling stake in Vector Technics, and the company has said this strengthens its push into UAV propulsion, aerospace components, robotics, and other defence technologies.
