GRSE and Apollo Micro Systems: Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers (GRSE) and Apollo Micro Systems (AMS) have entered a 5 year MoU to strengthen their partnership in the defence sector. This collaboration focuses on joint research and development, co-production, and export of advanced defence technologies.
According to Business Standard, this agreement covers the development and supply of underwater weapons and vehicles, underwater mines, underwater communication systems, and air defence systems. These technologies will cater to the needs of the Indian Defence Forces, paramilitary forces, police organizations, and various government agencies.

The MoU was signed by GRSE’s Director (Shipbuilding), Cdr. Shantanu Bose, IN (Retd.), and AMS’s Managing Director, Karunakar Reddy Baddam. The signing took place in the presence of GRSE’s Chairman and Managing Director, Cmde PR Hari, IN (Retd.), as well as senior officials from both organizations. This partnership is expected to boost indigenous defence production and contribute to India’s atmanirbhar in military technology.
The important aspect of this agreement is making the manufacturing infrastructure of both the companies better. By leveraging their expertise, GRSE and AMS aim to develop critical components and sub-assemblies required for these defence systems. The collaboration also includes modernizing and upgrading existing systems to ensure they meet evolving security requirements.
“This partnership aligns with the Government of India’s ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ vision, reinforcing our commitment to fostering indigenous technological capabilities in the defence sector,” said a GRSE official.
