BEL Navy Deal: Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL), a Navratna Defence PSU, announced on Saturday (8 Feb)that it has secured fresh orders worth ₹962 crore. Among these, a ₹610 crore contract has been signed to provide the Indian Navy with the Electro-Optic Fire Control System (EOFCS), a fully indigenously developed solution that enhances target detection and engagement capabilities.
“This system will be installed on Indian naval ships and is designed for day and night operations. It offers panoramic and sector search functions while tracking and engaging targets using medium and short-range gun mounts,” BEL stated in a regulatory filing.

The Ministry of Defence confirmed the agreement, noting that BEL will supply 28 EON-51 systems for 11 offshore patrol vessels and three cadet training ships. This procurement, valued at ₹642.17 crore including taxes, falls under the Buy (Indian-IDDM) category, supporting the government’s push for self-reliance in defense manufacturing.
Alongside this major deal, BEL has received additional orders worth ₹352 crore since its last update on January 28, 2025. These new contracts include anti-drone systems, fuzes, fire detection and suppression systems, vessel communication setups, and various spares and services.

BEL’s financial performance has also shown strong growth. According to CNBC TV18 the company’s net profit jumped by 47.3% from the previous year, reaching ₹1,316 crore. This was well above market expectations, as a CNBC-TV18 poll had estimated a figure of ₹980 crore. Revenue for the quarter stood at ₹5,756 crore, marking a 39% increase from the same period last year and surpassing analyst predictions of ₹4,955 crore.
With its latest orders, BEL’s total order book for the current financial year now stands at ₹11,855 crore, further solidifying its position as a crucial player in India’s defense sector.
