BEL and Centum: Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL), one of India’s leading Defence Public Sector companies, signed an important agreement with Centum Electronics Limited (CENTUM) on August 19, 2025. The two companies came together to focus on making more advanced and fully Indian-built technology for defence.
Focus on stronger Indian technology
This new partnership will look at designing and making high-tech electronic modules, subsystems, and full systems for the armed forces. Both companies want to make big progress in fields like Electronic Warfare, radar systems, and safe military communication. BEL has a strong record in defence electronics, while Centum is known for its Electronic System Design and Manufacturing (ESDM) skills. Together, they want to speed up India’s path to self-reliance in some of the most critical defence areas.

The signing took place at BEL’s Corporate Office. The MoU was exchanged between BEL Director (Marketing) Suresh Kumar K V and Centum’s Chairman and Managing Director, Apparao V Mallavarapu.
The event was also attended by BEL Chairman and Managing Director Manoj Jain, along with Centum President Dr. Vinod Chippalkatti. BEL leaders said this move shows their strong commitment to the Atmanirbhar Bharat mission in defence. Centum leaders also stressed that they will keep providing modern solutions that make India’s defence stronger.

About BEL and its role
BEL, which started in 1954 and is based in Bengaluru, has grown into a key company under the Ministry of Defence. It is a Navratna Defence PSU and it is one of the biggest names in defence electronics.
The company makes systems in many areas like radars, communication, avionics, electronic warfare, and even electro-optics. Over the years, BEL has played an important role in reducing India’s dependence on foreign defence products. Today, it not only supports the Indian military but also exports its technology and products to more than 30 countries across the world.
