Telangana Aero-Engine Capital: Telangana said that it wants to become India’s “Aero-Engine Capital” by the year of 2030. Minister for IT and Industries Duddilla Sridhar Babu said this on Saturday while he spoke at the event called “Empowering Atmanirbhar Bharat: India’s Aerospace and Defence Manufacturing Summit” at the Indian School of Business in Hyderabad. He said that the State government is working on a full plan that will help Telangana build a strong aerospace and defence system with help from top companies and universities.

A Strong Defence Hub
The Minister said earlier Congress governments started many basic projects that helped Telangana grow into an important defence centre. He explained that this early work now gives the State a strong base to create a full ecosystem from start to end. He also talked about how fast changes in world politics and many breaks in global supply chains are making countries search for safe partnerss.
He shared that India’s defence production reached Rs.1.5 lakh crore last year. He also said defence exports went up by 12% in the same period. He said these numbers show that the world is trusting India more, reported Deccan Chronicals.
Telangana wants the aerospace and defence sector to become a big part of its plan to reach a $3.trillion economy by 2047. Right now the State has more than 25 top national and global A&D companies. It also has more than 1,500 MSMEs that help push the Telangana name in global markets.
New Investments in Telangana
Telangana’s aerospace exports were Rs 15,900 crore in 2023-24. Then the exports jumped to Rs 30,742 crore in only the first nine months of 2024-25. The Minister said this shows very fast growth in the industry.

Sridhar Babu also talked about major new investments coming into the State. He said the Tata–Safran aero-engine plant in Adibatla is now working. This Unit cost Rs 425 crore to build. He also said the JSW Defence UAV unit worth Rs.800 crore will start soon, and Premier Explosives is getting ready to open a new defence production unit that cost Rs.500 crore.
